Close Protection in New York During the Presidential Elections
We were contracted to provide two licensed armed Close Protection Operatives (CPOs) for a 5-person German television crew covering the US elections from New York City.
The Problem
The 2024 election led to some turbulent times on the streets of New York. Our client needed a discreet yet proactive security presence to protect the crew and secure the expensive equipment.
The Solution
After assessing the situation with the client, we agreed that two highly trained and experienced armed close protection officers would be sufficient. The officers carried out these duties:
- Proactively identify risks to the team and equipment.
- Monitor and assess potential threats, including civil unrest or public demonstrations.
- Maintain a respectful and discreet approach toward the crew, interviewees, and the public.
- Adhere to local laws and extra directives from law enforcement or the Secret Service.
- Safeguard the crew from harassment or physical threats, especially during live broadcasts.
- Guard and protect equipment against theft or damage.
- Assist with transporting and setting up equipment when needed.
- Document any security-related incidents for post-assignment review.
Successful Outcome
Across 2 days of filming, the camera crew remained undisturbed. They were reassured by the presence of our security officers and pleased with the service.
